Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) & Intensive Family Reunification (IFR)

Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) and Intensive Family Reunification (IFR) are crucial components of our comprehensive commitment to supporting families and ensuring the safety and well-being of children. They embody the principle that children thrive best in their own families when it is safe and possible

Intensive Family Preservation

The primary goal of IFP is to prevent the unnecessary out-of-home placement of children when they are at imminent risk of being removed from their home. The program aims to stabilize the family during a crisis and equip them with the skills to maintain family unity.

IFP entails crisis intervention, in home support, 24/7 availability, skill building and coaching, safety planning, parenting skills, crisis management and life skills.

Intensive Family Reunification

The primary goal of IFR is to safely and successfully reunify children with their families after they have been placed in out-of-home care (foster care, kinship care, etc.). It aims to address the safety threats that led to the child’s removal and ensure a stable and lasting return home.

Similar to IFP, IFR services are intensive and often delivered in the family’s home, but also include support during visits and transitions in the community.  The team will address removal reasons and support both parents and children. They will enhance parenting capacity by building new skills with focus on communication and relationship building.
